Ingredients
Scale
- 1 ½ cups white chocolate chips
- 1 cup sweetened condensed milk
- ½ cup freeze-dried strawberries (or fresh strawberries if available)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon butter
- A pinch of salt (optional)
Ingredient Highlights
- Sweetened Condensed Milk: This ingredient provides the fudge with its creamy, rich texture and sweet flavor.
- White Chocolate Chips: The base of the fudge is made with white chocolate, which brings a smooth sweetness that complements the tartness of the strawberries.
- Freeze-dried Strawberries: Freeze-dried strawberries add a concentrated, natural strawberry flavor and a lovely texture to the fudge. If fresh strawberries are used, they may need to be pureed and strained to remove excess liquid.
- Vanilla Extract: A touch of vanilla enhances the overall flavor of the fudge and balances out the sweetness.
- Butter: Butter gives the fudge an extra level of smoothness and richness.
Instructions
Prepare the Fudge Mixture:
- Prepare Your Pan: Start by lining an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper. This will make it easier to lift the fudge out after it has set.
- Melt the White Chocolate: In a medium saucepan, melt the white chocolate chips over medium-low heat. Stir constantly to prevent the chocolate from burning. You can also melt the white chocolate in the microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between.
- Add Sweetened Condensed Milk and Butter: Once the white chocolate has melted, stir in the sweetened condensed milk, butter, and a pinch of salt if desired. Continue to cook on low heat, stirring constantly until the mixture becomes smooth and creamy.
- Add Strawberry Flavor: If using freeze-dried strawberries, crush them into a powder using a food processor or blender. Fold the powdered strawberries into the melted fudge mixture. If using fresh strawberries, puree them and add the strawberry puree to the fudge mixture. Stir until evenly incorporated.
Set the Fudge:
- Transfer the Fudge to the Pan: Pour the fudge mixture into the prepared baking pan. Use a spatula to spread it out evenly and smooth the top.
- Chill the Fudge: Refrigerate the fudge for at least 45 minutes, or until it is firm enough to slice. The chilling time may vary depending on the thickness of your fudge.
Cut and Serve:
- Cut into Pieces: Once the fudge has set and is firm to the touch, remove it from the refrigerator and lift it out of the pan using the parchment paper. Place it on a cutting board and cut it into small squares or rectangles.
- Serve: Your Strawberry Fudge is now ready to be served! Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator to keep them fresh.
